What is DECA?
DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality, management and entrepreneurship in high schools and colleges around the globe.
DECA prepares the next generation to be academically prepared, community oriented, professionally responsible, experienced leaders.
The four components of the organization's Comprehensive Learning Program are that DECA:
- Integrates into classroom instruction
- Applies learning
- Connects to business
- Promotes competition
Founded in 1946 as "Distributive Education Clubs of America", DECA has evolved with the marketplace. This America-based organization fosters the idea of the American Enterprise System available for all freedom-loving entrepreneurial-minded people around the world. In 1947 Washington became one of the first states in the nation to be chartered by DECA. Sumner DECA is a new and quickly growing chapter that in its first 3 years has sent competitors to international competition.
